In cool pursuit of a dub dragon that led them to ‘An Iceberg Cruising the Jamaican Coastline’ and ‘Deep Blue Bass’ since 2021, Froid Dub lounge about the machines with a typically louche, gallic steez on ’Synch Unity’. The six cuts are cooked up for early hours bobbing or afterhours slouching, rubbing out melted Sleng Teng styles on ‘Bass’, locking into digi-dub-disco strut on ‘Treasure’, and letting it all colour out of the liens in the dozy bogle of ‘Tear Gas Mix 2’. They plumb sexier levels of slinky wooze with whispered gynoid vox and echoic rimshot tickles on ’Stay’, and approximate the Tempo rhythm in ‘Dub it Naturally’, with the wheezing ‘Percussion Dub’ recalling the wonky dubs of Porridge Bullet.
